Burg Eltz, a fairy-tale-like castle in Germany
In Germany, there are many castles to explore. Burg Eltz, located in Wierschem, is one of them. This is a populair destination because of the history and the beauty of it. Are you ready to step in a real-life fairy tale?
How to get there
The easiest way of reaching Burg Eltz, is by going with a car. However, there is also an option with public transport, which you can find here.
When I went to Burg Eltz, I got there by car and it went really smoothly. Park your car and pay for your parking fee.
Parking costs at the parking lot of Burg Eltz:
- Car or Motorcycle – €2,-
- Vehicles with trailers or campervans – €4,-
Entrance fee & Opening Hours
If you want to visit Burg Eltz, you need to pay an entrance fee. The fee depends on your age and if you come with a group. Down below I will list the prices each person:
- € 12.00 – Adults
- € 11.00 – Adults in a group of more than 20 people*
- € 7.00 – Students and disabled visitors
- € 6.00 – Students in school classes
- € 32.00 – Family Ticket (2 adults, 2 children)
You can only visit the castle with a guided tour. The tour itself leaves every 15 minutes and takes about 40 minutes.

- April till November – 09:00 to 17:00
What to do
The fun thing about visiting Burg Eltz in Germany, is that you have many options on what to do.
You can walk around the castle and explore the forest surrounding it. This can easily take in some time because the area is huge.
You can get a ticket (except for the winter because it will be closed) and get a tour through the castle.
You can take endlessly photo’s. The castle and the nature surrounding it is beautiful and you keep wanting to take photo’s.
Try to find something that fits you and start exploring.

How long do you need for visiting Burg Eltz?
I would recommend you to spend around 2/3 hours there. The area is huge and the tour through the castle takes about 40 minutes.

Best time to visit
The Eifel Region in Germany is a populair summer destination. However, this area is also perfect in the off-season. Spring and autumn are also good seasons for the Eifel Region because it will be less crowded. Do keep in mind that Germany has many types of weather and also a lot of rain.
My boyfriend and I visited The Eifel Region in the winter which is also a great season. We had almost every place to ourselves and the prices of the accommodations are lower.
